Every day, the American Red Cross sees the heartbreak of people trying to cope with more intense storms, heavier rainfall, higher temperatures, stronger hurricanes and more devastating wildfires. As more people rely on the Red Cross for help, the need for compassionate volunteers has never been greater. If you have two weeks and are motivated to help others, we want you. Fresh Coast Home Base will be located in Lower Harbor Park again this year! Clean up volunteer help break down tables and chairs, load them into the truck and make sure the venue clear to take the tent down. 

Fresh Coast Home Base will be located in Lower Harbor Park again this year! Set up volunteers help set up the festival grounds, arrange tables/chairs, and make sure the venue is ready for the film screenings. This position involves lifting 30+ pounds. 

Help the Fresh Coast Crew clean up the box office at the Marquette Commons. Duties include:

• Packing up merchandise
• Rearranging tables and chairs 
• Moving boxes 

This activity is in celebration of #TogetherTuesday, a day when communities come together to make a difference. At Camp STAR, we believe that no child should walk the journey of grief alone, and that the community plays a role in Sharing Together And Remembering.  That’s why we’re launching our encouragement note campaign!

We’re inviting you to write a brief, uplifting note to our campers. All our campers are young people from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that have lost someone close to them, and your words can help them know they are not alone on their grief journey.

How to participate: Leave your note of encouragement in the comments on this Facebook or Instagram post, email it to upcampstar@gmail.com or mail your note to Camp STAR, PO Box 878, Marquette, MI 49855. We’ll be accepting virtual and physical notes through July 1.

Camp STAR is a program of STAR Children's Bereavement Services. It is a free weekend long grief camp at Bay Cliff for kids and teens, ages 8-17, that have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives.

Join us in providing support and comfort to children. Our grief camp offers a safe, compassionate space where kids can express their emotions, build resilience, and heal through fun, therapeutic activities. As a volunteer, you’ll help create a supportive, caring environment, offering a listening ear, guidance, and a shoulder to lean on. No experience is necessary—just a heart full of empathy and a desire to make a lasting impact on a child’s journey through grief.
