Want a behind the scenes look at the Marquette Fireworks? This is the opportunity for you! Help take down the staging area for the Fireworks. This job includes moving metal racks from the end of the Ore Dock to a barge, from the barge to a U Haul and from the U Haul to a storage facility. This volunteer opportunity is very physical and requires lifting 30+ pound equipment repetitively for the duration of the shift.

Ever wondering what goes into setting up a fireworks display? Get a behind the scenes look by helping move racks during set up! This is the big set up day. Activities includes unloading the truck, and assisting the Great Lakes Fireworks pyrotechnicians with transporting the racks and fireworks shells out to the end of the Ore Dock via a barge. Note that this opportunity may end early, as a pyrotechnician license is needed to be on the dock once the boxes of shells are opened. Volunteers must be 18+ and able to lift 30+ lbs repetitively. 

Interested in learning more about commercial fireworks displays? This opportunity is for you! Assist the pyrotechnician team with preparing the fireworks racks. Racks will be loaded from their storage facility onto a UHaul and delivered to the Ore Dock structure. Because of limited parking, volunteers will carpool with the pyro team out the facility from the parking lot near the Dock. Volunteers must be 18+ and able to lift 30+ lbs repetitively.

We’re looking for volunteers and community partners to help with our Youth Summer Gardening Program, running Fridays from 2:00–3:00 PM, June 16–August 29. Located at 1901 Longyear Ave in Marquette, we have raised beds, a community garden, and indoor space for rainy days. Soil, seeds, tools—we’ve got it all. What we’re missing is you—someone to help make this a fun, educational, and hands-on experience for our youth!

Help kids learn about:

• The growing process
• Natural life cycles
• Composting and sustainability
• The joy of getting their hands in the soil

Whether you’re a gardening guru, composting enthusiast, or just love working with kids outdoors, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.

Description: Provide general support for the Ore Dock event, assisting with logistics and attendee engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with event setup, ensuring the space is organized and welcoming

• Help direct attendees to different areas of the event

• Support performers, vendors, or speakers with logistical needs

• Monitor crowd flow and provide assistance as needed

• Ensure all materials and supplies are properly managed

Description: Responsible for setting up and breaking down event spaces, ensuring a smooth transition between activities.

Responsibilities:

• Help with stage set-up 

• Arrange tables, chairs, signage, and decorations before the event

• Set up tents, sound systems, and other necessary equipment

• Assist with unloading and organizing event supplies

• Ensure that venues are clean and reset after each event

• Help with breaking down and storing materials at the end of the event

Marquette Maritime Museum and Marquette Harbor Lighthouse are looking for volunteers to give interpretive tours of the Lighthouse as well as tours of the Maritime Museum, which focuses on the history of Marquette, Lake Superior, and the Great Lakes.
